A mixed method study to investigate principals’ challenges with providing arts learning opportunities and their perceptions of arts learning opportunities’ impacts on educational outcomes. We also examine whether increases in schools’ arts educational resources impacts principals’ perceptions regarding the benefits and impacts of arts education. We have conducted this investigation with data collected and analyzed from a focus group, interviews, and surveys with principals who participated in Houston’s Arts Access Initiative, a program that substantially increased arts learning opportunities in schools lacking such resources.
